Refashion??
My husband and I both recently lost weight. If you want to hear about my husband's amazing KETO experience, where he lost 70 pounds between Lent and the start of school, let me know in the comments. Due to this, we have a whole lot of clothes that do not fit us anymore. Also, due to the one salary of our current situation, we found ourselves lacking the necessary funds to replace our wardrobes.

When my nieces came to visit from the city over the summer, they talked about the trend of thrift shopping and upcycling. They talked about decade fashion coming back in their schools, and I thought, "Hey, maybe I don't need a new wardrobe after all!"
I started off by making a skirt for my niece out of an old pair of jeans and some scrap fabric I had in my fabric box. I will not lie and tell you how easy it was. It was not. I had to pull out seams and start over about three times.
I will tell you that it was worth it. In the end, she had a very cute skirt that, according to her, is fashionable enough to be worn at her school.
Next, I took one of my husband's oversized flannel shirts and refashioned it into a vest for me to wear this fall. It did not turn out perfectly, but I think it was pretty cute for my first try. When I make another, I will post a tutorial with steps and pictures.
I also hand stitched some fabric flowers to go on the front of the vest. Those are my favorite part.
Overall, I do think I am going to continue to refashion some of our old closet to make new workable pieces. I will post step by steps as I do. I will end up donating some of the clothes that can be used by someone else in need. Hopefully everyone will end up winning.
